Schumann Dichterliebe 2-hands by Th. Kirchner: different versions!
On Jan 16, 2011 Alfor posted a scan of Theodor Kirchner's 2-hand arrangement of Schumanns songcycle Dichterliebe. I wouldn't dare to compete with Alfors beautiful scans, but in this case I must offer my own scan. The arrangement in my album of Kirchner's Dichterliebe is in many details different from the album Alfor has scanned. And both versions are published by Peters! It puzzles me why 2 different versions exists. Did Kirchner really made two arrangements or did some editor from Peters make some adjustments? Alfors album has Peters number 7038 and my album has number 5697. To facilitate the comparison of the 2 versions, I thought it wise to upload in this post also Alfors earlier scan.

Your version is much more difficult!! I can only imagine that either both versions had been published at the same time, or that Peters demanded an easier version to replace the more difficult one.

Yes, this might be a good explanation, Alfor. Reminds me of an album I saw in a music store, titled "Mendelssohn made playable"... But in the Kirchner case both versions are good.

and my apologies for not spotting your final movement transcription sooner.
As a completist, the whole is most definitely more than the sum of the parts!

Schumann's songs generally exist in two versions, low voice and high voice. Yours is the low voice version and Alfor's is the soprano version.
(These are both technically the high voice version, being in the original keys. I probably should have said that Kroket's is the tenor version and Alfor's is the soprano version.)

Not the entire Dichterliebe, but this Reinecke Schumann-album does contain Im wunderschonen Monat Mai.The request by Parag was from january 2011, so let's say better late than never!
