I'm surprised this work isn't better known, it's an amazing illustration of the possibilities of weaving melodic lines through shifting tone color. I almost regret that Webern didn't use his talents on further transcriptions of this caliber.

Yes, Webern's delicacy and taste would have made him a perfect arranger.

It's fascinating to realise he got to such delicacy considering his earliest monstrosities - Im Sommerwind, a post-Straussian tone-poem, and the opus 1 Passacaglia - the latter an amazing masterpiece - both utilising a huge orchestra.

The Bach arrangement is sublime.

Bruckner's 11 symphonies, including No.00 (why not No.-1?) and No.0,
are marvellous! But not only in their original form. Apart from the
arrangements for piano solo and piano duet/duo, the scores of which
are available at IMSLP and elsewhere, including here:-

there are also some interesting recordings of at least 5 of them
in forms which are almost never heard performed live.

I noticed that the piano solo arrangement of the Andante
of Bruckner's Symphony No.00 in F minor, downloadable
from the above link and from IMSLP, has a fault with page 7.
