Thanks for posting these rarities! It makes me wonder if Pauer also made a 2H arrangement of Mozart's best 4H piano sonata, namely the one in F major, K497.

These come from a book called "Junge Klassiker",
but no more Mozart transcriptions in it.
Indeed, 497 is a fine work.
I love the beautiful adagio at the start.

Berthold Tours' 2H arrangement of Handel's Messiah has long been in my 'to scan' pile, but I'm mentioning it now because of the fascinating list of other 2H transcriptions listed on the rear cover. These include 4 Mozart Masses and his Requiem, all of which I'd love to get hold of.

Berthold Tours' 2H arrangement of Handel's Messiah has
long been in my 'to scan' pile, but I'm mentioning it now
because of the fascinating list of other 2H transcriptions
listed on the rear cover. These include 4 Mozart Masses
and his Requiem, all of which I'd love to get hold of.

These covers keep the hunger to more scores alive!
I've never seen a transcription of a complete Mass. Indeed that would be interesting.
And done by the famous Vincent Novello himself.
A book I dearly love is the diary about the visit by the Novellos to Constanze Mozart.
Makes you wonder which of the Masses are the first, second, seventh and twelfth.
The Requiem is already available in transcriptions by Brissler and by Klindworth,
but who knows how J. Pittman has done the job.
Of the Messiah I have another transcription than you, it is done by Louis Kohler (80 pages).
Scanning will have to wait until I've bought a new scanner.
The one I use now quits after about 15 pages, because it gets too hot!

These may be the Mozart masses which Vincent Novello
arranged for 2H, although I'm rather doubtful:-

Mass No.1 in G major K49
Mass No.2 in D minor K65
Mass No.7 in C major K167 'Trinitatis'
Mass No.12 in C major K259 'Organ Solo'.

Novello produced at least 9 VSs of Mozart masses,
including K192, K194, K220, K257-9, K275, K317, & K337.
He also produced the VS of Wenzel Müller's Mass in G major,
the so-called Mozart Mass No.12, in the 19th. century.

This being the case, the 2H arrangements listed on the back
of the Handel Messiah score were probably culled from four of
these VSs, with K317 and the Müller mass perhaps being two of
them. More research is needed.

BTW, it was Pittman who made an excellent 2H arrangement
of Handel's Water Music.

Some various transcriptions. All nice to play on the piano, in my opinion.
The Mozart transcription has movements 2 and 3 of the so-called Nannerl-Septett.

Brahms revised the 1854 version in 1891.
This transcription by Paul Klengel is of the 1891 version.

It was difficult to scan (large format),
all the notes are there, but not all the clefs on the left.
I made a seperate scan of each page,
so I could re-scan and change the pages that weren't good enough.
Alfor graciously put them into one pdf (see 2 posts below).

Several of Klengel's arrangements for piano
solo of Brahms's chamber music are in circulation,
and this is a most welcome addition to that group.

Thank you very much for this rarity. I never suspect ist existence. Not quoted even in Pazdirek. This finding could may be let us think about complete 2H of opp.87,101,25,26,60.
