My thanks to Scriabinoff for posting the delightful little Iturbi piece--never knew we wrote anything. I had the privilege of hearing him play the Tschaikowsky 1st about 50 years ago, and what a performance it was.

And Georgio, my thanks posting for the wonderful Turnia dances--these are most excellent pieces.

Anyone has Suite No. 1 by Antoni Massana?
Just heard a recording of the complete suite by Consuelo Colomer. Mac McClure recorded only the Prelude from the suite.
Are there any other solo pieces by Massana?

The Suite is available from Boileau, published in 1990.

Rogelio del Villar:

(b León, 13 Nov 1875; d Madrid, 4 Nov 1937). Spanish composer and musicologist. From 1919 to 1936 he taught at the Madrid Conservatory. He used Leónese folk music in his three string quartets and songs, whose lyricism earned him the title ‘the Spanish Grieg’. His many writings show him a conservative nationalist.

From: Oxford Grove Music Encyclopedia.

Nice to have more Villar with this small little gem which gets to join his other well written pieces--especially the two volumes of his Danses which I enjoy playing.

Thank you, Alfred.
