Re: Music from the British Isles
In September of 2009, Malcolm posted my scans of some Roger Quilter pieces.
One of these was the second of two Impressions Opus 19, "Lanterns".
Here is "In a Gondola" which is the first piece.
Peter.

Tobias Matthay (1858-1945) - noted British teacher and composer. Especially for the toccata lovers !

Re: Music from the British Isles
hey.... just wondering if there is any update on the search for the other version of the English Waltz - would love to have it if it is around.... thanks! I was also searching for the unpublished (possibly) Op. 37 - Prelude No. 01 ... any help is always appreciated!liveforpiano wrote:musiclife217 you were asking about Cyril Scott's An English Waltz.
There are two versions of this, both of which are recorded by Leslie De'Ath on his traversal of the complete piano works.
I sent him this version, which he did not have. It is recorded in Vol. 5. The other version is on Vol.3. Somewhere among my collection I do have this as well, and as soon as I find it I will scan it.
Meanwhile I hope you enjoy this, the first version of the Waltz.
Peter.

Re: Music from the British Isles
I haven't seen Cyril Scott's Opus 74 Trois Danses Tristes circulating--here's number two, the Danse Orientale. It’s the only one of the set that I have.

Re: Cyril Scott.
I have found number one of the opus 74 which is Danse Elegiaque.
According to my catalogue I do have number three as well, but like with the English Waltz
I have not found it yet.
I hope to do a bit of searching through the Christmas break as my concerts with my group
of singers finishes tomorrow until Jan.7th.
Meanwhile, enjoy this Danse.

Norman Anderson - unfortunately I can not seem to find much information about this composer beyond he taught at the Guildhall School of Music in London.
