Marvelous - thanks for posting these transcriptions. Warren makes "Jeanie with the Light Brown Hair" sound a bit like Charles Ives.

Sensational playing! Who is the pianist?Scriabinoff wrote:Concert Transcriptions of Three Stephen Foster Melodies for Piano by Elinor Remick Warren (1900-1991).
February 23, 2000 marked the 100th birthday of one of America's outstanding classical composers, Elinor Remick Warren. In the early part of this century, Warren broke the gender barrier by becoming a celebrated composer of serious music at a time when males dominated the field. At the time of her death in 1991, Warren had lived a career that remains one of the longest and most prolific in American musical history.
Described by musicologist Christine Ammer as "the only woman among the group of prominent American neo-Romanticists that include Howard Hanson, Samuel Barber and Gian Carlo Menotti," Warren has written more than 200 published compositions, including works for orchestra, chorus and orchestra, chamber ensemble, piano, voice and chorus.

"Apologies for the delay I was double checking to make sure this is not in print. To my understanding this vintage edition is not out and about new any longer (I have seen one used example for sale lately and another one on Ebay a while back). Rather difficult to find even if one does want to purchase, to my uderstanding, there is a new edition of this by Masters but that also seems to be unavailable (I saw a lone listing for a copy in the Stanford University library catalogue). These are really quite nice and I have taken so much a liking to them that I will begin work on No. 3 this spring."-Scriabinoff

she is pretty sensational, she has an active repertoire of over 100 concertos, more than any other artist in the world (per her website).

Hello Scriabinoff,
Is your Soundcloud searchable, or indexed?
It seems you may have some very interesting material, which I, and maybe others, would love to browse...
a humble enquiry only,
regards,

Re: Piano Transcriptions for two hands
I think it might be but there are only a few works I am hosting at the momment as I only recently started to utilize it (my SoundCloud is still in its infancy and I have only recently started to host a few works). I have plans to keep building it as I have tons of back-logged files I need to clean up/organize and where I can verify that that they are not available to listen to elsewhere (i.e. youtube) I will upload them for folks to sample.tobyjj wrote:Hello Scriabinoff,

The only other interesting one you should see right now aside from the Foster transcriptions and the Elert is the solo version of the Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No 2 by Percy Grainger. It is an interesting little 'paraphrase' which is shortened quite a bit but preserves many of the difficulties of the original and presents a few new ones. I believe the score is on IMSLP or elsewhere on the interwebs, let me know if you cannot find it and I can send it to you. Also, the total upload capacity they allow for the 'free account' is not super generous so I'll try to be selective about what goes up here in the new future to make sure I don't waste space with stuff that can be easily searched/listened to elsewhere.
Super glad you're interested and enjoyed what is up right now though. Will keep interested parties updated. Thanks!

this should be the front landing link and I think and hope it will continue to show everything I have

in case anyone is interested I also keep a scribd feed that is downloadable-with a catch, you need to sign up, it's free, and upload a thing or two, they ask people to share before they can download for free, seems fair...Nothing extradordinary but a things might be interesting to folks (i.e. some dissertations, album inserts, a few PD scores and releated and misc. stuff)

Re: Piano Transcriptions for two hands
Hello again Scriabinoff,
A remarkably quick and concisely informative response - thank you! Very much appreciated - I shall pay attention and follow with interest. I had actually already availed myself of the Rachm.No2. Grainger link - thanks again.
Editing my own reply: - are you saying you have the score for the shortened version? - I may indeed like to have that and am incapable (at the moment) of knowing quickly whether I do have it.
[That is not meant to be cryptic].
regards,
tobyjj

also I recently put a nice scan of Gottschalk album that I believe is out of print (old Dover reprint edition but has super nice pieces).
EDIT to answer your question, Yes I do have that transcription. If it can be posted on PP I can post here on this thread. If not, I can send it to you via email or mediafire or google drive download. Just let me know what you prefer and if you know if it can be posted here for all...

Hmm,
we seem to be editing in "real time" - and consequently missing the edits!
I used to use ScribD - but is it not now entirely commercial ? or hyper-limited to non-subscribers ? tell me otherwise and I will reinvestigate it.

Re: Piano Transcriptions for two hands
to my knowledge I have never had to pay for any of the now hundreds of downloads I have been able to get for myself nor have I ever had any limits on what I can share (both in number of files or size). I understood it that once you are a user so long as you upload some documents on your end it tells the folks there you are sharing with the community and you can then download on your end free of charge to your hearts content (unless I was somehow grandfathered in without my knowledge post some change to their user agreement I would have missed).tobyjj wrote:Hmm,

it is worth the hassle, hundreds of fantastic scores can be found/had if you 'user surf' properly, i.e. you can bounce from user to user via a 'related documents' feed at the end of certain uploads. I have found some incredible music and full books on related and other interesting matters that way.

Thanks,
will definitely reinvesigate - I did once have direct communications with the founder of that site, not necessarily amicable - it might explain why I subsequently found it hard to access!
