Hello FredB,
If you're taking a census - I'd prefer it to be moved back.

It was Pass The Salt not Fork Handles - sorry, passthesalt wrote:It seems priggish to get in a huff about the 2nd Hungarian Rhapsody. After all, there are 2 famous cartoons of it out there. Tom and Jerry did a great one. And then there's the immortal Bugs Bunny cartoon, where Bugs ended up throwing a stick of dynamite in the piano to get a pesky mouse and plays the high notes with his ears? I can't hear this anymore without starting to laugh.quercus wrote:Thanks for the Liszt Hung Rhap #2! I performed the duet version a couple times many years ago, but misplaced the score and have been half-seriously trying to find it ever since. It's a great crowd-pleaser, but I had to put up with some flak from the "serious" people who thought it was immoral to play anything but the original.![]()

OK, I've moved it back but my original point still stands - this area should focus on piano sheet music as much as possible please.tobyjj wrote:If you're taking a census - I'd prefer it to be moved back.

Re: Humour in music
Perhaps 'Humour in piano music' might better serve as a thread title, in this case.fredbucket wrote:OK, I've moved it back but my original point still stands - this area should focus on piano sheet music as much as possible please.tobyjj wrote:If you're taking a census - I'd prefer it to be moved back.

Btw, there's always the 'Musical puns, jokes, and teasers' thread hibernating in the
'Miscellaneous Matters Musical' section, which could presumably be used for any
non-piano related musical daftness of almost any type.

Some fugal writing on modern theme. The latter was played at last year's PROMS as an encore by Dejan Lazić.

Re: Humour in music
Perhaps I am being too bold by making my first post here a link to my own performances, but some of the irrepressible Nicolas Slonimsky's Minitudes are so relevant to this thread that I can't resist. Here are the "Bad Egg Polka" and the "Cabbage Waltz". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3s2pKyGu2ow. And two strange takes on the c-minor fugue from WTC I https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mos9u0Rngf0. Enjoy!
