Thanks, Alfor: I get to replace my dog-eared copy with a this nice hires scan. I first played this back in my college years and nice to play it again. A pleasant memory of mine is that i actually got to perform his great 2 piano piece, Danses Andalouses. Ah! So long ago!

Nice coincidence, Alfor. i just today received the revised edition of Barber's Complete Piano Music and includes all previously unpublished student pieces. It is a nice single volume just published in 2010. I am slightly disappointed in that this edition does NOT include the original version of Souvenirs in duet form--only the solo piano version. The student works are not impressive for the most part but show some precociousness. At the moment I am engaged in finding what details were changed (if any) in the Sonata and Excursions--from the original editions (as these are pieces that I play)-alas, no footnotes to indicate changes, but it is very interesting.

Wonderful, Alfor! The Schafer Etudes are a great way to start the new year. Yes, indeed, very Chopin influenced, much fun to play (as is his Sonata) and not terribly difficult as they are highly pianistic, falling rather easily under the hands. This is the kind of material I can really sink my teeth into with great glee. And the Paraphrase was another pleasant surprise and quite effective. Now I've had my Strauss fix with this and all the Strauss waltzes I heard in Vienna last week--at least until next year.

Your enormous contributions to this board can not be understated, Alfor. Thank you!
