Re: Etudes
Whilst strictly not an etude by name, I hope I am not doing any wrong in posting the last work by Diemer
here. His Scherzo-Capriccioso Opus 57. Peter.

Re: Etudes
An interesting video of a pianist playing Méreaux étude n°24, Bravura. Not much musical substance, but the acrobatics are there!

Re: Etudes
Certainly acrobatic. This pianist has recorded some very difficult works - including some of those by Alkan - to a very high standard for an amateur.Jean-Séb wrote:An interesting video of a pianist playing Méreaux étude n°24, Bravura. Not much musical substance, but the acrobatics are there!

I did, however, feel it important to point out on his video that there are several more musically interesting studies in the set than the 'Bravura' one!
Re: Piano Etudes
Can someone recommend the BEST etudes for 4th and 5th fingers (passage work, trill etc.). There are so many etudes and I have lost my way in the "etudes' forest". Thanks so much!

Re: Piano Etudes
IMHO, if you think you need etudes for LEARNING and TRAINING these things, then just invent exercises. Play trills or repeated notes in all variations.Krieger wrote:Can someone recommend the BEST etudes for 4th and 5th fingers (passage work, trill etc.). If you want to play etudes for playing interesting , but at least technically challenging music or playing music in an interesting and attractive way, then take ANY etude of your collection.
Sorry, no concrete hint.
