Another important new Sorabji recording

Post by alistairhinton »

This is Toccata seconda, 1933-34 - again, a world première recording - played by the brilliant Spanish pianist Abel Sánchez-Aguilera.

I'm looking forward to it. New Sorabji is always welcome! Now, if BIS will just release the last volumes of Ullen's Etudes...

It will! Not sure exactly when but probably by this summer (should summer ever come!). Studies 84-98 were recorded some time ago and 99 & 100 were done in December last to complete the cycle so, once all of this has been edited, it should all be ready to go!

After that, Jonathan Powell has a CD of Sorabji's shorter piano works more than half done and he hopes to complete this in a few weeks' time so, once again, it just all has to be edited and it will then be ready to submit to the label. Like that two most recent Sorabji recordings, this is due for release on the Piano Classics label.

Watch these spaces!
