Operas

Post by arglmann »

Hi everyone,

I hope this is the right place now :-)

I'm looking for a piano reduction or full score of the opera "Hamlet" by Ambroise Thomas. A friendly conductor wants to include glass armonica in it, and I would want to look at the score as well.

I noticed the IMSLP version, the ballet arranged for 4 hands...

If anyone can help, thanks!

I have examined the site you quote and I see that they give for free a lot of interesting scores, above all in the Opera section.
However, some members have also uploaded scores that were previously uploaded to Pianophilia, ASKING FOR MONEY for their download (e.g. Mozart's Symphony in A K.201 in the 2H of L.Rohr).
I sent a message to the administrators sying that I'll communicate this information to the libraries that originally own that kind of scores (still visible in the copy for sale). Those libraries should undertake legal actions, according to the european laws dealing with libraries' copyright for old scores owned in a single copy.

This is a bad situation, however I don't think many libraries would bother to do anything about it.
Of course, there are also paysites which only offer public domain scores. Stupidly, I joined one
of them, only to find some of my own old files 'for sale'. In effect, I'd unintentionally given them
various scores for free and they were charging me to have them back.

Here a piano solo version of a rather famous opera - this type of transcriptions seems to have gone out of fashion nowadays.
Enjoy,

Big ask, I know, and rather unlikely, but would anyone have scanned scores for any of the following operas:
BUSONI - Doktor Faust
FAURE - Penelope
PROKOFIEV - The Fiery Angel
PROKOFIEV - The Gambler
R. STRAUSS - Die Schweigsame Frau
R. STRAUSS - Daphne
BERG - Lulu (obviously Act 3 would not be possible as Cerha is still with us, but the first two Acts would be marvellous).
Thanks in advance for any help,
Richard

The scan looks fine to me! Thank you so much for sharing it. I shall re-listen to the whole opera again tonight to celebrate!

Richard :D
