What a cute composer! (OK, this is a "Germans only" joke.)
But honestly I am always quite amazed how many composers studied with good old Nadia. Sometimes I think it would be shorter to list all 20th century composers who didn't study with her.

... and I'm impressed by the connection to the Siloti-Rachmaninov-Tchaikovsky circle, on the very other hand ...

I look for these for a while: Sonata Teutonica and Sonata Psychologique by John Powell. I think here is my last resort. Could Alfor help? Thanks.

I think i am on safe ground here as this is unpublished and bears no copyright markings. It actually has the composers name and address on the cover, with a "please return to" so i expect it had limited circulation.

If this posting is not in order, i will undoubtedly get spanked by the admins and extradited to the USA, where i will get an 800 year prison sentence. I don't want to live off McDonalds for the rest of my life so i hope this is OK.

I had to think long and hard (long meaning I fell asleep whilst thinking...) and I was sorely tempted (when I woke up) to pull the trigger on this one but eventually decided not to subject Thal to the fate he describes. Firstly, because 'In and Out Burgers' are much better (although only in LA I think) and secondly...

Most of my recent purchases are too dodgy for here, but i have got a concerto by Hugo Anson that i have scanned which is copyright 1941. If this is OK, i will post it, but please let me know what thread so you can answer all the "Nationality" arguments

Agreed that In and Out Burgers (in California) is better than Mickey D's, but best of all is The Burger Box in Euless, Texas (locals call this town "Useless, Texas"), which features milkshakes made with Double Fudge Blue Bell ice cream. Blue Bell ice cream, although frequently smuggled across state lines, is available only in Texas.

When I was pregnant, I'd waddle into The Burger Box at least 5 times a week to get one of these heavenly milkshakes until one day an employee muttered, "Honey, anything you gain over 25 pounds, you get to keep after the baby is born." I was too mortified to walk in after that, so I used the drive-through until they recognized me. After that, I made my husband or neighbor buy them for me. I used to think that the extra milk-fat in the shakes made my kids' brains bigger, but then they'd do something like get wedged behind the refrigerator or paint with margarine, which blew that rationalization out of the water.
