And, I believe, she recorded all the Rachmaninov songs in the original keys.

I treasure these recordings. After some of the most boring moments in the universe with all that Schubert stuff -and many recordings adjust the keys anyway- it's nice to put the emperor's clothes back on and enjoy a bloke who could really write songs and have fun at it.

And as a pianist, whatever, Schubert is profound -yes, yes, of course- (crikey), it's such a relief to play accompaniments that are fun to play without the intellectual complications of Gerald Moore and company, but which some of us find life too short to get excited about.

R.I.P. to the UK's hopes of ever coming anywhere half decent in the Eurovision Song Contest,
when countries like Greece and Cyprus always give each other maximum points, regardless
of the quality of their respective songs and despite the weighted voting system which is
supposed to eliminate such bias. No wonder Italy stopped competing altogether many
years ago - perhaps we in Britain should do likewise. Perhaps also, if our European neighbours
aren't going to vote on the merits of the songs alone, they should vote according to who it
is that always helps them out in times of war, and whose tongue they usually speak as
their second language. If only Gibraltar had a vote.....

Please note that the London terminal of the cross channel railway is now at St Pancras, if that helps.

Btw, since this country is up to it's neck in international debt, maybe we should put a tax on our
biggest export - our language. Any country that uses English as it's first or second language should
pay us a monthly subscription (a bit like telephone companies).

It is a very common mistake unfortunately - twice in this case!
