musical playback software for pdf files

Can anyone recommend software for musical playback of scores in pdf format? This would be to just get a general idea of what the piece sounds like without having to hack through it badly at the piano. I tried the demo version of some software called smartscore X, which didn't do a very good job. Maybe someone can point me towards something better.

The process is called music OCR and is never 100% reliable except in very rare cases where the score is very clean, well laid out, and not too complex. I use a programme called SharpEye, which is five years old now (the developer having moved on to other things) but is still the best IMHO. I use it to produce XML files which I can then read into Finale.
There is no substitute for sightreading, I'm afraid
