Does anyone know of further piano works by Mikhail Chernov? They are alluded to in his Russian Wikipedia biography.
Chernov was a student of Rimsky-Korsakov and Liadov, and taught Yevgeny Mravinsky at the St Petersburg Conservatory.
Bingo - yes, all the biographical information on the composer suggests there are other piano works although beyond the Op 1 Les Fleurs, I have yet to actually find any copies. From research over the years there have been mention: a Waltz and Galop from (1916), and a piano sonata and sonatina, but I have never seen copies, not found any additional evidence of their existence. But that also goes for most of his music - three symphonies, cantata, cello concerto - in fact I can find almost nothing by him beyond the Op 1 and an arrangement of the middle movement of the cello concerto for cello & piano. The likelihood is either the national library in St P may hold something - but their card index system is not complete and is currently sending me back to the A's if I click on Chernov !!! Nothing either in the National Archive in St P. (nor Moscow or St P conservatoires, nor State Library in Moscow) The only other option - and common in Russia - is that the scores / manuscripts are held by the family rather than being deposited in an official institution.
I read up on the 1928 competition to mark the centenary of Schubert's death, for which Chernov got first prize in the Russian round (judged by his teacher Glazunov!) with his third symphony. . One might have hoped for a repository of scores, but with over 500 entries and the global divisions,it's likely his score never left the country.

Here are these pieces, I searched the internet off & on over the past 14 years & finally found them tonight by modifying my Google search in Russian as "балакирев 30 русских народных песен для". That said, I'm really looking forward to printing this out!
