Don't know much about this composer. He's not the same Uspensky as the composer who wrote the sketches after Gogol's Dead Souls.

Yury Iosefovich POLUNIN
Fantasia, for piano

Thanks to pianist Olga Solovieva and Toccata Classics, we finally got a CD of piano works (which includes this piece) by this student and avid supporter of Shostakovich and Myaskovsky. Sadly, he spent a good part of his life having to cope with serious mental illness, which was only exacerbated when his work was declared 'formalist' by authority figures like Tikhon Khrennikov:

A few pieces from a more well-known Russian Romantic composer - Anton Rubinstein (1829-1894). I don't think I've post these before, and they do not appear to be available through IMSLP.

Alfor posted that very set (the 'Tetrad 1" you located in Worldcat) a few years back:

Actually, I believe they're from the same set, but they aren't the same pieces. But if they are, we have an alternative scan!

It might be two separate sets. The 'no. 2' included in my post (the first one with '2' in parenthesis) is a different piece from the 'no. 2' in Alfor's.

Sorry if this is a vague query/request...
I remember seeing a Romance by Gliere, many years ago. I am unable to find the score... I distinctly remember it was not the one he wrote for children... it was quite a difficult piece the way I remember it. Does anyone know which one I am talking about?

You mean this one Parag, a piece I played very often a few years ago ( from 2004) and a great piece .
