The Rakov is an excellent concerto. I downloaded a lot of Rakov at intoclassics. You need to be able to navigate some russian to get through that site, but there is a lot of treasure there.lutoslawski wrote:Maiborada - Symphony No.1 (info inside)

About the Alexandrov Concerto: Victor Bunin has told me that the scherzo movement was recorded in the same sessions, but that Alexandrov withdrew it from the official release (he didn't tell me why) -- and this section is still in the radio archive.

Re: Russian & Soviet Composers (Misc)
Thanks for the interesting information. I wonder why he withdrew the scherzo. he wanted to make it more like a traditional concerto, and not a symphony?isokani wrote:About the Alexandrov Concerto: Victor Bunin has told me that the scherzo movement was recorded in the same sessions, but that Alexandrov withdrew it from the official release (he didn't tell me why) -- and this section is still in the radio archive.
But that would be ridiculous, because it was released as symphony - concerto. I believe i am not making any sense. But thanks.
I played through the scherzo last week, and i found the movement very different from the others. As if it doesnt match with the other movements.
