Poor old John Farmer - not the better known one
who died in 1601, but the one who died 300 years later.
He seems to be almost completely forgotten now,
despite penning some lovely music, such as the above
hymn By Jesus' Grave from his sacred oratorio Christ
and His Soldiers, first published in 1878.
I suppose his two crimes were (a) to have been a 19th.
century English composer and (b) to have had the same
name as an earlier composer.

by 14-year-old Maurizio Pollini...was it???!!!

was played by Pollini at the Busoni Competition in Bolzano
in 1956, winning the composition prize for Leighton.
