Scott-Baker - I suspect this composer is British........but this work is in the style of several well known composers......you could argue this work is multi-national !!!!!!! Pastiche or variations ?

Malcolm & Mr P

Scott-Baker - "The girl I left behind me" a series of piano pieces in the styles of various composers [Bach, Mozart, Chopin, Schumann, Elgar, Grieg, Wagner, Tchaikovsky & Debussy].

Thank Mr P.......no rest even on Christmas Day. After his morsel of turkey and with only a small fire in his tower room, I think scanning helps him to keep warm :D

We thought to end the year on a good note [pun intended] and hopefully a hint of so much more to come in 2011.

Another composer I can seem to find no trace of any biographical information ......Wilhelm Hauck and his substantial set of variations [name crops up in Norway, Sweden and Germany as a starting point]??

we learn that he was a pupil of Hummel and that he died suddenly from a lung problem in 1834, soon after he had played with Taubert the double piano concerto by Kalkbrenner. He was a good man, a good teacher and a good pianist. R.I.P.

My hat off to you....you are very good in tracking down information on the most obscure of composers. Thank you for the information on Hauck......very much appreciated.

Another composer, I seem to have drawn a blank with - F. Comte D'Alberti. Italian ? Any information from members much welcomed ?

Whatever, his origins....this is a substantial work.....well worth exploring on the fringes of the obscure [thank you Mr P].

Obviously I don't think he can be identified with a Francesco d'Alberti, conte di Villanuova, who wrote a dictionary/encyclopaedia in the first decades of XIX century.
No mentions in the italian musical enc.

Some piano compositions are stored at the Conservatorio library in Milan,(no indications about his birth/death dates) :

Scherzo-etude pour piano
Adagio del Rondo finale : Fra poco a me ricovero (Lucia di Lammermoor)
Composee et dediees a Mad.me Therese Ronzani
Fanciulla amabile, l'ostel m'invita : canzonetta
Galop de bravoure pour piano
Reminiscences des Prisons d'Edimbourg : Opera de M. Frederic Ricci
Reminiscences pour piano de l'opera Corrado d'Altamura (1845 ?)
Clara : ballata ... / D'Alberti Francesco

Some compositions were dedicated to him by Strakosch, Lickl,Honnore and other very minor musicians.
Golinelli dedicated to d'Alberti his "Reminescenze dei Capuleti e Montecchi"

For Ricci's opera see for instance
