Thanks Fred. Walter's site fails to load here 99% of the time. Walter once wrote that others in the UK have trouble with his site. I can't remember any other site consistently failing to load here, over several years. Very odd indeed.

Yes, it's called revenge for the Boston Tea Party.

An 1858 edition has just been released by the Bavarian Library - http://daten.digitale-sammlungen.de/~db ... 270/images

The Dover edition which contains the Liszt Sonata with Harmonies Poetiques et Religieuses, 2 Ballades, Consolations and the 2 Legendes, has some interesting editorial notes regarding the Sonata, and gives the original ending.

It is shown on a half page size, but is readable and complete.

Peter (Liveforpiano).

We can be glad that good old Franz changed his mind. The ending he finally choose is much more sublime than the original one.

There's also a color facsimile edition of the Liszt sonata published by Henle. It's hardbound, costs a couple hundred bucks, and contains a commentary written by the pianist Claudio Arrau.

I'd be very interested in obtaining the pages written by Arrau. Can anyone help with that?

Thanks
