Dear Pianophilians,
some months ago this year I came across a composer from Japan that I would like to introduce you to: Toru Yaskawa (*1960) (I think the correct transcription would be Yasukawa but his transcription is phonetically correct).
Yaskawa is a contemporary and very prolific composer; there could easily be thousands of single pieces by him. From 2004 on he composes a series called Shapes of a Dream (ゆめのかたち/Yume no katachi) which today contains 1,000 and one pieces...
His music is very pleasing and uses standard Jazz harmony which makes it quite attractive to play and to hear. However, almost every single piece has a melancholic and dream-like sound which makes them not very diversified (the melancholic aspect doesn't bother me...). But for some evening-entertainment-music which doesn't require a high level of virtuosity and can easily be sightread, this is perfect!

After some digging, I found the composer, who hails from Mongolia to have a different Romanization of his surname:
Gendengiin Tsendorj

(1926-2020)
The Op.2 consists of

According to his son, Enkhtur Tsendorj, his father was a native of Adaatsag soum, Dundgovi aimag. "He was an adopted child who never saw his mother as a human being. He was the adopted son of a family named Genden and spent his childhood in the countryside. After graduating from the first school in Ulaanbaatar, he went to the Leningrad Music High School in the USSR and became a student of G.Ustvolskaya, a student of the great Russian composer Shostakovich."
Tsendorj senior's passing was tweeted by his son in December 2020:
