Thanks for the pleasant little diversion, timtin. Interesting that the publisher thought this was modern in 1919. I'd say it could have been written any time the last 150 years.

Hi Fleubis - you're welcome! I have here a pile of British
scores of the type which lurk in charity shops here in the
UK, which time forgot. I'll scan them bit by bit, however
they do carry a dire warning:- Download at your own risk.
Not suitable material for the musical cognoscenti!

If anyone's interested, I have recently uploaded a rarity - Edward Bairstow's Variations on an Original Theme for two pianos to IMSLP, plus some other piano works by that clever gent Herbert Murrill.

Enjoy!

Blowing the trumpet of British composers, it's been brought
to my attention that Sir Harrison Birtwistle has won the prestigious
2015 Wihuri Sibelius Prize in Helsinki. He's the second British 'B' to
have won it. 8 Finns have won it over the years since it began in 1953!

Does anyone have Austin Ernst’s “14 Sonatinas for children, on English folk-songs”?
Thanks.

I believe you mean Ernest Austin. Sorry, I've never come across a copy.

Jim:

You are right, I meant "Ernest", but thank you anyway.

One of Percy E. Fletcher's (1879-1932) best known pieces.
