Does anyone have any biographical information about J. Pennock Thompson please?
For example, the composer's dates, gender, and what the J stands for.

Thank you Fred.
My guess would be Joseph, but maybe it was a pseudonym.
I have a Herbert Wells Thayer book here on my scanning pile.
It turns out that that was a pseudonym of Wilhelm Aletter.

There's quite a bit of his stuff floating around, including the NLA...http://trove.nla.gov.au/people/1157255?c=people

Thank you Fred.
According to the site below, Aletter had five pseudonyms but it gives only
three. Sam Weller was another, but it's not clear what the fifth one was.
Also, when uploading a file where a composer used a pseudonym,
presumably the file name should also use the pseudonym.

I think the best way is to include both - such as 'pseudonym'(aka 'realname')filename.pdf or possibly the other way round. That way, both the real name and pseudonym can be searched for.

A slightly inaccurate but amusing film.

Well done that man.

Archibald Joyce (1873 - 1963), the English Waltz King,
hasn't previously been mentioned on Pianophilia.

This is his Reverie, Birth of Love (not a Waltz):-
