Timtin wrote:As a firm advocate of the music of Stanford, I find it somewhat
disappointing to see that the world seems to have almost entirely
forgotten about most of his piano music. There are a very small
number of works in circulation and a few more available from
Stainer and Bell's archive, including the 3 Dante Rhapsodies Op92:-

However, there are one or two others - the non-hyperlinked piano
works listed on IMSLP, which aren't in S&B's archive either:-

It is these which are incredibly rare, and which I'd love to find, such as:-

10 Dances (Old and New) for Piano Op58 (Boosey, 1895).

If anyone can help, you'll be a friend for life! :-)
Dear Tim, I just ordered them via interlibrary loan - but this not a guaranty that I'll get them ...

Thank you Paolor - much appreciated! Let's hope that the
Dances Op58 arrive safely.
I recommend Stanford's Dante Rhapsodies Op92, but as
they're available to buy new from S&B, I'd feel very uneasy
about sharing the score, as that would potentially deprive
them of income.

The score is marked as non borrowable, so I doubt if it would be available via loan.

It would be best to order either images or photocopies and Cambridge University is one of the cheapest I have ever used. I have ordered hundreds of copies from them and they do a quick job. Info is here: http://www.lib.cam.ac.uk/deptserv/imagi ... index.html

Thank you Thalbergmad! I clicked on the Catalogues tab, then
Library Search, and then typed in CVS's full name. Hey presto -
407 scores of his appeared in the Music Scores section, including
lots of extreme rarities. Item 67 is the Dances Op58, and item 276 is
the Toccata from his Six Characteristic Pieces for the Pianoforte Op132.
Sadly this piece isn't included in S&B's archive reprint of Op132, which
only has the first 5 pieces.

Here's a set of pieces by Percy Elliott from IMSLP that I cleaned up a bit.

Cyril Scott (1879-1970) - British composer - strangely although many works available on IMSLP this is not amongst them, and I do not think it has been posted on Pianophilia [at least not in the current incarnation].

Third time lucky?

PP is getting rather big, so even with a search these things slips through the cracks every now and again.

(Sir Charles) Charlie Chaplin (1889-1977), deserves to be in this forum, as composer -among other talents-. His compositions most famous: “Smile” and “Limelight” are examples of his music talent, but the list of his repertoire is much larger.

I upload this suggestion in this thread, subject to be placed in the one that the Site Administrator consider more appropriate and if there are not copyright restrictions.

... Which there are of course. Yes, Chaplin was English but all of his works are still copyright and will be for quite a while yet.
