Goodness, what do we have here with Borchard?

Well, it seems we have a French film composer wrote a fantasy on a popular song in the manner of Liszt. It certainly has a lot of whiz-bang technical devices in, but IMHO it is musically a little thin, but I imagine the composer had great fun writing it and I had fun playing (most of it!).

Wow! This Alquier Sonate sonata is no mere piece of fluff and quite substantial in quality as well as quantity. I greatly look forward to encounters with pieces like this as the musical architecture presents a wonderful opportunity for exploration which miniatures lack. Having played through this sonata only twice, I still have much fun ahead of me but alas the low-res scan requires that my eyes rest for a bit. I find there is much to appreciate here and pieces like this really fill up a day.

BTW this sonata is deciated to famous (and adventurous) pianist Blanche SELVA and was
premiered by her in the famous Salle Pleyel in Paris in February 1910.

Alas! The demise of the famous 19th century salons in Paris.....where one could hear all the latest and greatest.....and now? Now....we have recordings..................sure not the same.

Thank you, Alfred for the Buziau Scherzo. I must say I did not find in it any of the scherzo-liked qualities we commonly associate with a scherzo. Still, nice to encounter another new composer.

Thanks for Keepsake #2 collection, Alfred. Yet another nice collection. I'd hate to be the editor trying to decide which pieces to include in a collection in the 1840's.....lots to choose from. As usual, some pieces familiar and others totally unfamiliar (to me).
