I totally agree with Jeffl.
I used to come on this forum and download a lot of music sheets, while I stayed an anonymous follower, without participating.
But I'm bored with that, and I would like at least to thanks all the people who upload music scores here. The collection which has been posted here is amazing, and I will never thank enough the people who share this with us. (maybe it seems a bit exagerated, but I was looking for some score for a very long time in vain, and I am glad to have found them finally here)
Unfortunately, I haven't rare and intersting music sheet to share, but if I get some cool things, I'll post them here. I'm still waiting for the Manhattan Suite by Louis Alter, I hope to get it soon... I also have some quite rare Gershwin's music sheets, but I'm not sure it's possible to post them here, because the copyright are still running I think...

(and sorry for my dramatic english)

Good Morning Folks,

Thanks to JeffL and eeks1982 for your kind words of encouragement. Yes scanning music is definitely time consuming work, but rewarding in its own right knowing that the material is forever recorded digitally and that it resides in many collections rather than a few. I've collected music for over 50 years, and have always been concerned about loss due to water or fire damage, or that rare scores could be discarded when I'm no longer around. Pianophilia has and continues to offer me a forum to share this music with the world, and I derive great satisfaction in doing so.

For a morning treat, here is a gap-filler....a Willie the Lion Smith folio which was missing at the time I posted his piano solos a number of weeks back. This scan is from a photocopy (I still haven't located the original sheet), but it's a clean copy and taken together with the other postings fills out "The Lion's" published solos. Enjoy! :D

Frank, I have to thank you again!!

I have been playing Grofe and Sims this last couple of days, and enjoying it very much.
The sight reading is coming back as well. Surprising that it goes after all these years, but the old saying "if you don't use it, you lose it" seems very true. I used to play daily, but other things get in the way just lately, so thank you for encouraging me through these lovely downloads of yours to get back into the " swing" (literally) of things again.

Thanks for 'Morning Air', Frank! I've played it through already and am looking forward to trying the other ones as well.

Also can't wait to see what other Mayerl transcription treasures you'll be generously sharing with us next...

Many, many thanks.

Peter.

Hello Peter (liveforpiano) and Peter (struwwelpeter)!

You both are most welcome, and I am very happy to know that you're enjoying the scores. Yes, they do make fine sight reading material and it certainly is true the more sight reading one does, the more the facility returns.

I will definitely have many more postings to come, including all the Mayerl transcriptions (which go into the hundreds of pages, so it might take me awhile on those). In the meantime I managed to scan a number of scores by the great Thomas "Fats" Waller. These are mostly intrumentals, but I included a few songs when the titles alone made the scanning worthwhile!

Take care and above all, enjoy the piano!

All Best,

Frank :D

Hi JeffL...sorry to hear about your problems downloading the Willie Smith folio. I just downloaded it myself to make certain everything was ok and it came across fine...I'm at a loss to explain what's going on...
