Looks like we're all on the same page about this.
@Brian: Posting a reference link this in Alfor's thread also allows us who follow VERY CLOSELY anything Alfred posts quickly--as I'm surely not the only one who finds something of great interest in nearly everthing he posts and these reference links work great!

Hi fleubis, absolutely fine with this arrangement, I think this is the solution to all and any problems we might have had in the past. I might even reinstate alfor on my Christmas card list
regards
Brian

Goodness! What a surprise this Couvoisier is. Indeed, the Passacaglia and Variations seem to fit somewhere between Brahms and Reger.
Nice finds, indeed, Alfred. Thanks for posting these.

Not yet! Still having fun with the Passacaglia & Fugue.
Update: Having now gone through the Passacglia & Fugue as well as the Variations, I must say that I like the Variations better, inpsite of it's rather unlikely thematic material there are several interesting variations and I like the recap of the theme in the variation 8 which does help clarify matters. Leaner textures and figurations than either Brahms or Reger would use, imho. And yet another piece to wonder about why it has remained in obscurity for so long.
Brahms-Reger? Always fun to play through some good transcriptions like these.

Many thanks for this fresh scan--the Largo has always been a favorite of mine.
