Alfor, thanks very much for the fascinating biography, including those wonderful photographs.

And thanks for posting the links for the Alberto Jonas MASTER SCHOOL OF MODERN PIANO PLAYING & VIRTUOSITY. I tried that 5 finger arpeggio exercise and noticed immediately that the stretch of a fourth between my third and fourth fingers is difficult, so I'll be working on it.

I wonder if it was Alma Mahler Gropius Werfel herself who donated those books to the library in Amherst, or if it was her estate. Did she have a connection with U. Mass?

Along with jeremy, I too am finding many useful exercises here in the Jonas volumes. One of the first things that struck me is the scale exercises playing hands together but with each in different dynamics and touches---it's all perfectly logical to practice this, if you think of it, but it's a new exercise for me, and I'm sure that I'm the only one here that missed that little exercise!

There are some other exercises that are laughable for small hands like glissando octaves in opposite directions, but these are few and far between and I expect to get many years of practical use from these volumes.

Technical Note:
I have found that the Jonas volumes are in a rather unusual PDF format such that they cannot be read by my MusicReader 4.0 software, and this had to be overcome by printing out selected pages. If anyone else is having this difficulty, that author of the MusicReader software states that these volumes are in an "unsupported format". Meanwhile, I am attempting to convert them to a format compatible with MusicReader 4.0.

Update
Using Adobe Acrobat Pro and saving an OPTMIZED version yields a beautiful version that works fine in MusicReader 4.0
