Re: Alfor's Rarities
Boekelman! How nice to have all these. His selection of which ones to analyze is certainly very interesting, and certainly leave everyone wanting more. While most of us received a lot of instruction about where the subjects and counter subjects, and episodes, etc., are, what I find especially interesting is the harmonic analysis--something not covered too much in piano lessons during my early days. Instead, one of my professors insisted on employing boring Schenkerian analysis to everything in front of him, so you can imagine that I find Boekelman a breath of fresh air.
This sentence certainly shows it's age: "Students trained for a motionless position of the hand will not be surprised at the partly revised fingering." (I can imagine Alfred getting a big chuckle out of such a statement.)
These Boekelman editions are a welcome addition to our libraries. Thanks for these, Alfor!

Re: Alfor's Rarities
Dear Alfor,
Clearly my Spanish lessons are working, in that I understood your post without needing the Google translator!
Rachmaninoff's Etudes-Tableau are clearly his best pieces and surely some of the best ever written for the piano, IMHO.
Have always stayed clear of this Op.33 No.5 due to the complete lack of fingering in my IMSLP edition,(but perhaps someday I can unearth my printed copy here amongst my still packed printed scores) and also due to the blistering performances of people like John Chen and others, so your fingering of this supersonic etude means a great deal to me in that I can now give it a try without my hackneyed fingerings. (Side note: Good thing Rach wrote this in 6 flats--all those black keys simplify things a bit)
Later: Have just played it a couple of times and come to realize how highly pianistic it really is. But then again, so is all of Rachmaninoff's music--I have to face my own limitations in some pieces due my small hands
This fingering helps a great deal, thanks for posting it.

you are welcome! Always at your service! Please let me know if there is any specific Rachmaninoff Etude you would like to have fingered. (Imho there is at the most a handful which needs „fingering assistance“.)

Re: Alfor's Rarities
While the Chromatic Fantasy & Fugue is perhaps my least favorite Bach piece, this edition by Fischer provides lots of insights and is very welcome for the clarity it brings compared to many other editions. It is a first class performing edition. And never mind those urtext editions.
Thanks for posting this, Alfred.

Re: Alfor's Rarities
Ah! The lovely Rondo from Ireland's sonatina which is so much fun to play. Very fluid fingering you have given us, Alfred.
Thank you!
Thank you!

Re: Alfor's Rarities
I forgot quite a portion of fingering on page 2 (12).
So here is the completely fingered page:
