Nice Reger here, Alfred. Amazingly light, and not a fugue in sight. Always wondered what his music was like before he got the counterpoint "religion". One would be hard pressed to guess the composer on first hearing.

Siegfried BORRIS
3. Sonate op. 32 in D

(First print, publisher's edition, no longer available).

Well-written, individual style, sonatina-like. First movement appears
to be a fusion of Hindemith (B.'s teacher) and the French school,
third movement is written in a rather mellow Hindemith style.

Yes, the Borris sonata is much more a sonatina in scope and figuration than a sonata. I can definitely hear the Hindemith influence, but alas my knowledge of the French School doesn't go much further than "Les Six". All in all, this piece is a pleasant little excursion into clarity of expression.

Dear Alfred, I hope you do not mind the late "bump", I wanted to also express my appreciation (in general for all your contributions!) but specifically today, for the Sauer works. I must admit though I was superficially aware of him as a fine editor and pianist and Liszt pupil, I was not aware of his great contribution to the literature in original composition.

I hope it is okay for a related contribution of my own, these will hopefully help people in the future learn more about him, his works...

Alfred, thanks for posting this nice clean, HIRES scan on this little sonatina. I've been trying to like Busoni's original compositions for years without success and had a go at it again with your scan.

Thanks for posting.

Always nice to see a quality edition like this with a good editor at the helm, and a nice break from the various urtexts--not that I've ever seen one of this piece. It does not look or sound too much like Mozart to me, but nonetheless, it is an excellent piece.

Thank you for posting this, Alfred.
