I'll have my SCHARWENKA "over easy"and "to go", Alfred.....to the piano that is. Hey! These are much fun to play, these humoresques! Also, I 'like the Gawronski "Au Bord de le mer' - very nice.

Thank you again, Alfred for posting more Polish fun.

What a wonderful collection of pieces you have shared with us today, Alfred.

The Wertheim pieces are really outstanding and have an interesting chromaticism (with a penchant for 9ths). Great piano writing--there are many interesting and challenging parts in Wertheim. Also had much fun with the Winkler etude.

Dear fleubis,

once again thank you for feedback. Amazing that this still remains the "alfor-fleubis" thread. There are many "download-whatever-you-can-get-for-free" users but virtually nobody who is interested in "testing" my offerings.

...this might change however...

best regards

alfor

P.S. I do have excellent quality but budget-priced 120g DIN A3 paper. I would offer to send you a batch, but I am afraid the postage is far too expensive!
Best regards, Alfor S. Cans

Hi Alfor,

I've been pretty wrapped up in a lot of the Soviet scores you posted in the past and have not yet gotten around to the postings you've made in recent months. I notice the same tendencies with my own posts, which will receive 40-50 downloads in the first night and comparably little feedback. That doesn't really bother me because I try to limit myself to posting things that, first and foremost, I find interesting independently. I post them up on this board because I (a.) feel like it's otherwise completely unknown and am interested in doing a small part in counteracting its obscurity (b.) feel like protecting the works from their inevitable deaths through paper deterioration on library shelves or the publishing industry's disinterest in digitizing the works, and (c.) have a small hope that it might lead to a performance of the work or some other advance in the composer's accessibility, even if it's just on Youtube. I was pretty happy when I saw that someone matched up the Mosolov string quartet score I posted with the music in one of those 'read-as-you-listen' videos.

Another interesting collection of short pieces. My favorites are the Cyrbes Humoreska and the Stojowski Legend. The Cybres piece follows an easily anticipated formula, but that doesn't detract from the fun. The Stojowski Legend really surprised me. It is interesting how the composer gradually works his way into the brilliant chromatic scale passages. Thalberg has a lot of technical issues to explore, but seems musically thin to me.

I do hope that I'm not the only one playing through these scores. I had to come up with a system to play through such a massive volume of music and not just be a score collector: Here's what works for me: After these pieces are printed (and I do print out a great many of them) and PLAYED, they go into one of several piles depending on how much I like the piece and get replayed more frequently or less frequently depending on what pile they are in.....but sooner or later most go to my library shelves--all but a few select pieces--stay in the main pile...which is now 18" high. ......And which composer is found most frequently in that main pile? Emil Blanchet.

Thanks for posting still more interesting score for us today, Alfred, and please keep up your postings.

Dear Alfor,

I also thank you heartily for your tireless efforts in bringing this virtually unknown music to us. It must of course take many hours (or days/weeks/months!) to collate all this material and make it presentable, so your efforts don't go unnoticed.

Unfortunately for me, it is simply a case of not being able to find time to look through the majority of your scores, brilliant though they are. I have had a stab at some of your uploads, most of which seem to me to be of great musical merit, but never find time to finish the study of a piece.

So I will continue to download pieces that will interest me, but I may not have the time to actually go and learn many of them.

But I thank you nonetheless.

Best regards,
4candles
