Ferdinand Hiller (1811-85)

With all the welcome attention to the Liszt bicentenary, let's not forget the bicentenary of Hiller, born 23 or 24 October 1811 - one or two days after Liszt! Some of his many piano works are available on IMSLP, but I have never seen his excellent set of six caprices anywhere but in my own music collection.

So here it is - hopefully to be enjoyed by anyone who likes pieces in similar vein by Mendelssohn and Sterndale-Bennett. Bizarelly, the titles on my British Ashdown edition are in Italian, and the performing instructions are in French - but I imagine the work was first published in Germany.

...and the dedicatee appears to be Russian :)

Superb work Sir and let us not forget another 1811 composer, being Taubert. There have been a few scores on IMSLP lately.

Of course, next year will be the greatest of all celebrations.

Yes indeed in 2012 Thal will be 200 and not one grey hair yet!

Not much hair left here, either! Thanks for the Hiller.

I was asked to scan this waltz for someone a while ago, so thought I would share it here too!

Hello everyone,

I'm looking for Felix Draeseke: op. 13, Fata Morgana.
It's not on IMSLP, maybe someone could help me out with this one;
I would really appreciate it.

Thanks,
Arglmann
