Re: Polish Composers
Walter...I may start a Leschetizky thread shortly [I have a fair number of his works myself...just need to finish scanning them].
Now one of my favourite Polish composers - Ludomir Rozycki (1883 - 1953). Out of interest with our earlier discussions on the Op 18 Ballade and piano concertos....Acte Prelable have released a CD of both the Ballade and the Piano Concerto No. 1...they are taken from earlier recordings but sound quality is excellent. Well worth ordering....the concerto is a gorgeous work.
One of Rozycki's rarities.....three pieces from his Op 45 Ballet-Pantomime "Pan Twardowski" [1. Valse 2. Krakowiak
3. Scene d'Amour]. The last piece is both a piano piece and a song [for those that sing whilst playing] !!
My thanks to both Mr. P's [Peter and Parag for scanning and cleaning up the valse].

Re: Polish Composers
Does anyone know of any piano works by the 19th century Polish pianist (and emigré to Paris) Antoine de Kontski?
He was apparently one of the many virtuosos working in Paris in the time of Thalberg, Alkan etc...

Re: Polish Composers
Another two quite rare scores from Josep Wieniawski (1837-1912) - my thanks to Parag for making them a little more presentatable.
The Op 5 Duo should be in the chamber section but I will include it here - interestingly this was a composite work by both Wieniawski brothers, Henri & Josef [although Josef claims the opus].

Re: Polish Composers
Anyone have anything on Émile Wrobleski. He composed instrumental music and, I think, a 'Grand Concerto Symphonique' for piano and orchestra...?

Re: Polish Composers
I thought I had a copy of the Prelude and Fugue of Mieczyslaw Karlowicz. Now I can't find it. Can anyone help??
Or with op.39 of Stojowski?
Thank you.

Re: Polish Composers
I have just joined Pianophilia. I have almost everything by Ignaz Friedman. MANY years ago, when the Internet was just getting started, I had made available a list of Friedman's piano compositions, leaving out his many songs in Polish (a few in German and Danish) and a little chamber music. I have played in the US several of the 25 or so Mazurkas, and a favorite of mine, the first suite of four pieces Pölnische Lyrik op 53. As for copyright .... Friedman died in 1948, but most of his original compositions were published before 1923, so they are out of copyright in the US. I do not know about Europe. The original publishers in Poland and Kiev are long since gone, but Universal and Hansen may still have rights.
