Jean-Louis Nicodé. Born near Posen in 1853, died langebrück, near Dresden in 1919. He was originally trained by his father and the organist Hartkäs, before entering Kullak's Academy in Berlin. Studied piano with Kullak, harmony with Wüerst and composition with Kiel. He lived for some years in Berlin as a teacher and pianist. From 1878-1885 joined faculty of the Dresden Conservatoire; from 1885-1888 was the conductor of the Philharmonic Concerts. He later established the "
Nicodé Concerts" and formed the Nicodé Chorus so to be able to perform the larger choral works. In 1900, he abandoned these concerts and retired to Langebrück to devote himself to composition, with the odd appearance as a conductor.
Composed works for voice and orchestra, a symphony, symphonic poems, two cello sonatas, songs and many piano pieces.
