Behr - Op. 303... my goodness, what a high opus number. I wonder, does anyone here know what the highest Opus number ever reached by a composer is?

Czerny is close to 1000, which is enormous, considering that some opus numbers sometimes include themselves a whole collection of pieces.

Thanks Fred, for sharing! A great companion to help us understand Rach's music.

Also, to respond to the Opus number climb, I'd say Hans Engelmann was rumoured to have reached about 3000 works. Charles Grobe also was near 2000. If only all of those works were of such quality as the masters'! ;) I also am suspicious about composers "skipping" to higher opus numbers just to appear more accomplished when publishing their pieces. Just a thought! :)

Yes, Grobe is at least op 1997. Not sure I would like to listen through them all to judge the quality :-)

3000 for Hans Engelmann? Incredible. And only 6 scores of him on IMSLP so far...
