Re: Alfor's Rarities
I have that disc (of course), being a fan of RRB (nice man). I've never used the British Library but doubt that one can just turn up there and make personal copies, and certainly not of copyright material - Gerrard Williams will be out of copyright on January 1st 2018.alfor wrote:P.S. Any London pianophiliac out there, who would be willing to go to the British Library and copy some Gerrard Williams ("Two impertinences") etc.?

I've had a look at the Barbican & Westminster Library catalogues, but neither appear to have anything by Gerrard Williams. The problem with interlibrary loans on such rare material, if indeed a copy can be found, is that there may be a restriction on where the loaned item can be used. For example, I requested a copy of the Eugene Goossens Phantasy Concerto recently, and when it arrived from Trinity College Dublin, I was only allowed to peruse the work in the library itself rather than bring it home (it wasn't a fragile copy btw). Still, half-an-hour of intensive score reading gave me a good feel for the piece.
If anyone can source the Gerrard Williams at a UK library other than the British Library or an academic institution then I will request it on interlibrary loan. More than that I cannot do.

WILLIAMS, John Gerrard (1888-1947)
Gerrard Williams, born in London, was largely self-taught as a composer, having practised architecture until 1920. He did, however, receive some guidance from Walthew. The first recital of his works was given in 1922 at the Aeolian Hall in London. His compositions include operas (e.g. Kate, the Cabin Boy), operettas (The Story of the Willow Pattern Plate was for children), orchestral and choral works, string quartets and other chamber music, songs and piano pieces.

Re: Alfor's Rarities
Those are all academic institutions! They are exactly the kind of libraries that will not allow me to take the items home, just as with the Goossens I mentioned above. It needs to be from a public library. Sadly there is no single website on which to check. Examples of the sort of library it would have to be: Leeds City Council, Sheffield City Council, Liverpool City Council, Glasgow City Council, Edinburgh City Council etc etcalfor wrote:Dear rob,
