Re: Alfor's Rarities
What a tedious work, if you want to do it perfectly: 43 pages in 60 minutes!
Some more Franck for Frank:
Eduard FRANCK
Sonate op. 44 No. 2 (Malcolm recently posted No. 1)

Re: Alfor's Rarities
Dear Alfred,
I am truly enjoying the Eduard Franck Sonatas which you have been posting! They are beautiful and a lot of fun to play as well. What a rare collection of romantic Sonatas this is!! Also while I did recently obtain the score for Fuch's Op. 39, I've downloaded your scan because it is far superior (even compared with a relatively good scan). Your work at 600 dpi is incredible; in fact in practically all cases these scans are so much preferable over the original editions!
As always, your hard work continues to bring us all great joy. (I especially like the "Hausmusik" pieces...
)
All Best,
Frank (a.k.a. Dr. H)

I am giving my best

But as a sort of "scorophiliac" I accept the additional amount of work, especially when I look at some "less than perfect" scans from IMSLP - and when I get positive feedback from a certain Frank (a.k.a. Dr. H.) and others!!!
All best
Alfred

Re: Alfor's Rarities
Dear Alfor,
Frank is exactly right. As I have stated before, your scores are highly pristine and will remain that way long after the original paper scores have yellowed and crumbled to dust. We all appreciate this labour of love you have endeavored to undertake and your scores will grace many, many piano desks in the years to come because of your diligence in creating the best possible scans.
Much fun with the Franck and Fuchs today, Alfor. Thanks again!

Not 19th century, but very mildly contemporary style:
Riccardo PICK MANGIAGALLI

Re: Alfor's Rarities
Another delightful Franck sonata which is just full of interesting invention. He doesn't really seem to repeat himself very much, either and ends with a spectacular finale.
It is rare indeed to encounter a piece by Pick-Mangiagalli who really has a unique pianistic style and seems more than mildly contemporary to me, but musically behind the times for 1939, yet infinitely preferable to a lot of music his contemporaries were writing at that time. That there is such a scarcity of Italian piano music from late 19th through the early 20th century is a mystery to me and maybe somebody here on pf can explain it.
Thanks for the lovely pieces, Alfor. A great way to start the week off!
