Not exactly my cup of tea, here, but did find No.4 & 5 somewhat interesting.

Thanks for posting, Alfred.

These Variations are in fact by
EMMA Kodaly, Zoltan Kodaly's first wife (who was 19 years senior to him!).
To compensate that Kodaly's second wife was 58(!) years younger than her husband!!

Alfred you come up with some really unusual info sometimes and this bit on Kodaly is certainly unknown to most of us, as are the Emma Variations--which I found to be like a nice pleasant walk on a spring day.

Thanks for posting this Alfred, along with the rather odd Ranki piece.

Thank you very much for all your postings
The Emma variations are very pleasant and interesting. I've tried unsuccesfully to find a recording. Do you know if a recording does exist ?
Thanks

Thank you for feedback!

There is a recording of the variations, coupled with other piano works and songs:

http://www.amazon.com/Songs-Piano-Piece ... mma+kodaly

P.S. Kodaly's first marriage was in fact a happy one and lasted from 1910 to 1958 (Emma's death)!
I.e. Emma died at the age of 95(!!!) - - and one year later Kodaly married his 19-year-old
pupil Sarolta Péczely. What a contrast  !!!

(But what matters age, as we are, spiritually spoken, eternal beings!!
- And with the very lucky ones of us this is reflected
by the appearance of our respective material bodies 8-) ).

On the picture below Zoltan is aged 85 (or 84) and his spouse 27!

Yes- wrong Llewine- it's none other than Joseph Lhevinne. This piece was recorded by Tamara Cislowska in 1999 on her Russian Album CD on Artworks, an Australian label.
