No such thing as too much Bach and it's always fun playing through interesting transcriptions. One of these seems to require 3 hands.

Thanks for postiing this, Alfred.

Wonder if there is a transcription/arrangement of Schostakovich --- two chorus based on Davidenko Op 124???
Specifically, the first chorus....at ten verst from capital (?? correct English name).... some years ago, I come across the piano accompaniment and I think it makes a good transcription or concert-phantasy.

This is a sample number from Georges Micheuz's 2H version
of Émile Pessard's one-act comic opera La Cruche Cassée.
I'll scan the whole of Edition Bijou No.77 soon - not easy to do!
Btw, the La Cruche Cassée (The Broken Jug) is also the name
of a famous oil painting by Jeane-Baptiste Greuze.

Thank you Timtin. I know and appreciate Pessard's piano music (nice parlour music) but not these kinds of works.

I have been looking for this particular transcription since hearing it on Ronald Stevenson's "Transcendental Transcription" disc several years ago. Thanks to a wonderful InterLibrary Loan program, I was able to finally get my hands on a copy. This transcription is the second piece from Series II of Alkan's 'Souvenirs des concerts du Conservatoire'.
