Mikhail Alekseyevich Alekseev - novice Chuvash composer. Born March 20, 1933 in the village Sistebi Urmankogo Payon. At the end of the Penza College of Music in 1952, he entered the Moscow State Conservatory, graduating in 1957 as a violinist. He is currently studying with the composition faculty of the Kazan Conservatory. Among his works are works for orchestra, a string quartet, works for solo instruments, a sextet, vocal works and piano pieces. Here is the first publication of his piano preludes.

I've not seen any of those works, but a search for 'Alekseev' should turn up some of his works for bassoon, cello, etc... He also composed a really nice oboe concerto based on Chuvash themes.

Dear caostotale, thank you so very much for the ALEKSEEV preludes. These pieces are very pleasant, well written and sound effectively.

Thank relative, not me. All I did was translate the text. I'm glad you enjoy it, though. He's quite an interesting composer and I was surprised to find a work by him that wasn't chamber or orchestral.

Just to let people know that an updated version of my 'Encyclopaedia of Russian & Soviet Piano Music' is now available in the Information & Literature thread. Includes hundred of new biographies, new entries on composers - and have covered the majority of composers recently covered by caostotale [some of which were extremely hard to track down].

Hopefully, a useful scource for those members that enjoy music from the many states and countries that encompass the Russian Federation.
