Here are 3 more possibles:-
Brahms Piano Sonata No.4 in G major Op123 (Eternal).
Scriabin Piano Concerto No.2 Op50 (Aphrodite).
Scriabin Piano Concerto No.3 Op55 (Poem of Seduction).

Maybe there ought to be a sister thread to this one entitled
' Pieces that SHOULDN'T have been written'. That list would
undoubtedly have to include:-
Mahler Symphony No.8 (Symphony of a Thousand (too many?!)).

I assume this reference to Violin Concerti by Gustav Mahler & Franz Schmidt was an April Fool? The description of the Mahler seems to have been modified from a description of his Tenth Symphony.

Tim, you are welcome to start one, but I will put in all the works of Liszt and Brian will put in all the works of Mozart, so it might be a bit controversial.

It's a 1-4 joke, but a good joke nonetheless.

My lack of enthusiasm for Mahler 8 is partly due to it's form, and partly because
the Proms organisers seem to insist on wheeling it out every year as one of the
opening concerts. (My disdain for the Proms organisers is only exceeded by
professional football referees and Islamic fundamentalists.)

As regards starting a new thread, one based on musical puns, word games,
and informal quiz questions would be more up my street, and would probably
be far less controversial.

Yes, I don't get on with Mahler 8 either - but I don't think the Proms put it on every year!!! If you've ever been backstage at the RAH you will know it is a logistics nightmare. I did a Carmina Burana (*shudder*) last year with 250 singers and there was bugger-all room backstage! I have no idea how they manage a Mahler 8 - probably singers going straight on stage from coaches parked out back.

Your idea of a new thread "based on musical puns, word games, and informal quiz questions" would be very welcome.

I second the wish of Duruflé Piano sonata.

Furthermore I would like to have

Verdi Piano Sonata (in his more complicated, mature style)
Ysaye Piano Sonata
Poulenc Piano Sonata (well, it wouldn't really be one, you know)
Best regards, Ferruccio

Wikipedia says yes, but I have my doubts.

There are now at least ELEVEN (!) guitar concerti, so could not one of those be arranged and elaborated?
