Vocal Music from Eastern Europe

Post by arglmann »

Hi everyone,

I wonder where to find Janacek's Transcription of Dvorak's "Klänge aus Mähren" (Sounds from Moravia) -> for mixed choir.
Dvoraks Originals are op. 20, 29, 32 and 38.
Originally duets they were.

Has anybody ever heard of this?
Thank you in advance,

Arglmann

Does anyone have a copy of or can point me to someone who has the 4 lieder published in 1883 by Graf Geza Zichy, the one-armed pianist/composer. As long as he didn't also write for "un filo di voce" as well my soprano will be happy.
thanks in advance

Here's the gist of the entry from Worldcat. The British Library is the only source I could find but no publisher is given, only the location--perhaps Heinrichshofen?

Title: Vier Lieder für eine Singstimme, gedichtet und componirt vom Grafen Geza Zichy.
Author(s): Zichy, Géza, Count.
Publication: Magdeburg,
Year: 1883
Description: 4 no ; fol.

Thanks for the info Jim,
the songs got a good review in the Neue Musikzeitung for 1883 so we were very excited to see them, it is a pity that one of the most expensive libraries has a copy but that's life. I wonder if the accompaniments are for left hand only??
thanks again

I'd be surprised if there wasn't a copy tucked away in a German library--it was published in Magdeburg. It might be worth a look into some German library catalogs.

Dear All..........
I am not sure is this the right place to post....
I am in love with choral work of Kodaly...... I guess they must be out of copyright.

Is there any (as complete as possible) scan of his choral work>>

Kodály died in 1967, so I'm afraid copyright will not expire for a while yet.
