Thank you. Pessard was nearly exclusively known for a little salon piece, l'Andalouse, in the Spanish style.

Georg Asch

Post by Phillip210 »

While playing a 19thc salon piece by Hünten, my attention was drawn to some advertising at the foot of the pages in my very old copy. This focused on a piece by one Georg Asch called 'Irma'. The Victorian hype' reads 'The rage of the musical world', and 'Played everywhere with unbounded applause'. Sounds like a useful pieced to know - does anyone have it? Google was not a lot of help in finding out about the composer or the piece.

Thanks for that! I will keep looking for the solo version - I am always interested in music that promises 'unbounded applause'!

The music may promise that, but unfortunately my performances of it rarely do

Joseph Ascher -Le Souvenir

Post by Phillip210 »

Someone recently asked me for this, having seen my old YouTube video so I scanned it for them. I have not seen it elsewhere on the Web, so I hope it will be of interest to salon music enthusiasts.
