I'm looking for informations about Gayane Chebotaryan, an Armenian woman composer (1918-1998).
There is only small biographies on internet... I didn't find anything about her personal life, or what she did between 1943 and 1947 there is a big hole.
Also there is nothing about her professors at the Leningrad conservatory (Christopher Kushnarev (composition) and Moses Khalfin (piano)).
If you have informations, or know a book that can help, I will be very grateful !
Thank you a lot
I am not aware of any works in English beyond very basic biographies. I searched in Russian and most entries do not give any information for the 1943-47 period (I suspect she either remained in Leningrad or returned to Rostov, where she may have undertaken teaching or research). In 1947 Kushnarev invited her to Yerevan to teach at the conservatoire.
The key work on the composer is by Gilina E - Gayane Chebotaryan - Yer.1979 - but suspect may be in Russian or Armenian. Did find a short work written by Mark Arusyak, who works at the Yerevan Conservatoire, published in 2002, but it is in Armenian (duly attached).
I do have a fairly modest collection of her piano works if you wanted to view anything (some have been posted on Pianophilia) - please contact me direct on: malcolm.ballan@gmail.com

Thank you a LOT Malcom !
I have an Armenian friend, I will translate the document that you sent me.
I will share it with you as soon as possible on your email.
Stay tuned !

Ilona - would love a copy if you are able to get it translated. Very fond of Chebotaryan, so any information would be really appreciated.
Hi there
I am seeking a copy of Florence Price's Sketches in Sepia (1947) as below
So far extensive searches and enquiries with various US publishing houses have been fruitless with the only option a very expensive shipping charge for. The USA to UK.

If the European distributors for Schirmer fall through, the options to skip outrageous shipping charges are
1. use a mail forwarder (i.e. you get a US address and then you pay a vastly reduced rate for onward postage)
2. get it delivered to someone you know in the US who can scan and email the music.

As a composer, who happens to be a woman, I agree with the non-gendered division. After all, music is music, and it shouldn't be tainted with anything else, but as a manner of an hommage, I found an article about female composers who fell into anonymity (ones more than others, I believe)
I found it quite interesting as it lists composers that I was not aware of their names, much more their music: https://www.piano-composer-teacher-lond ... knew-about
It is quite pertinent they put links to listen to the pieces. My favourites are Hildegard Von Bingen and Kaija Saariaho, BTH.
Hello !
Im looking for the "4 Valses à trois mains" score, by Maria Szymanowska.
I found a music sheet on imslp (https://imslp.org/wiki/4_Valses_à_trois ... ria_Agata)) but Im not sure that this one is correct, when I heard records there is some differences...
If you can help me !
