Anatoly Nikolayevich Aleksandrov (1888-1982)

We've had a lot of scores by Aleksandrov shared on Pianophilia, but this is the first time I have come across a complete score of Op 33 (often No. 6 is missing). Nos 1 - 4 were also published as Op 33 a Little Suite..............but here is the complete work.

A new composer to me (and found this album freely available on various Russian sites, so decided to share here).

Yuri Vladimirovich Massin. Born 1941, Zaporizhia. Soviet & Russian composer, pianist and teacher. Member of the Russian Union of Composers. Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation (1995).

In 1957, Massin entered the Kalininsky Music School, then studied from 1956-1961 at the Moscow Music School, Merzlyakova, and then from 1964-1966 at the Krasnodar Music School.

From 1966 – 1971 he lived and worked in Kyiv with various concert organizations and on Ukrainian television. In 1971, he moved to Saratov, where he graduated from the Saratov Conservatoire (composition with Sosnovtsev and Simansky). He worked at the musical school in the city of Marx, and then at the Saratov regional school of the Arts. In 1983, Massin was admitted to the membership of the Union of Composers of Russia, and from 1991 to 1996, he headed the Saratov branch of the composers organization.
