A new composer to me - Mzezhavar Diakvnishvili. Born 1939, Tbilisi. Georgian composer and teacher. Member of the Soviet Composers Union from 1966-1991. She graduated in 1963 from Vano Sarajishvili Tbilisi State Conservatoire. From 1965, taught at Tbilisi I Musical School.

Grigol I Kokeladze (1904-1988). Born 1904, Patricketi, Tskaltubo district : died 1988. Georgian composer, teacher, and philologist.

Graduated from Tbilisi State University, Faculty of Philology in 1932; and again in 1937 after studies in composition at Tbilisi State Conservatoire.

From 1928 began his both his teaching and composing work, and from 1937-1943, worked in various music institutions and artistic groups. From 1945 he was the Director of the Folk Art House (now the Folklore State Centre); and from 1941-48 was the Artistic Director of Georgian Song and Dance State Ensemble.

He had recorded hundreds of Georgian folk songs in the archive of the Folklore State Center and had published a collection of folk songs: ‘Georgian Folk Songs (1956), ‘50 Georgian Folk Songs’ (1979, Tbilisi), ‘30 Georgian Folk Songs’(1981, Tbilisi), ‘100 Georgian Folk Songs’(1984, Tbilisi),and ‘Some Things on Georgian Dance’(1983).

Deputy Chairman of Union of Composers of Georgia from 1932-36, and Chairman of Union of Composers of Georgia from 1951-1952. Obtained a number of awards: Honored Worker of Georgian Art (1946), Order of Red Flag, People's Artist of Georgia.
