Here is my small contribution to the world's world première recordings.
I just released my new left-hand solo piano CD, featuring the first recording of the following Russian pieces:

Klimenty Kortchmariov: Prelude (1922)
Vladimir Pohl: Poème op. 17 (1938)
Vladimir Blok: Sonatina (1969)
Vladimir Ziring: Two Preludes

In addition, I recorded my new left-hand arrangements of:
Aram Khachaturian: Four Pieces from Children's Album I&II
Dmitri Shostakovich: Prelude op. 87 no. 13
Sergei Rachmaninov: Vocalise op. 34 no. 14

For those interested: The CD can be purchased by sending me an e-mail.

Folke.

Transferring my note from the Keyboard Music thread:
4candles wrote:Some of our PianoPhiliacs will already be aware, but it appears the complete Op. 63 Études by Méreaux are to be released next year on the Acte Préalable label.

I wait eagerly to see if this project actually materialises, but one of the studies, played by pianist Artur Cimirro, is already available on YouTube here.
The pianist provides a well-considered article on the project here.

Irrespective of members' opinions of the music in question, I applaud any musician who takes up the challenge of such comparatively out-of-the-way repertoire. I hope more like-minded musicians come to the fore in the future.

A few years ago on PP, I reflected with regret on the lack of any
recording ever having been made of Hubert Parry's Grosses Duo
in E minor, despite the score being readily available (on IMSLP).

Well, good news, the Parnassius Piano Duo have recorded it for
Lyrita, and the CD should be out later this year. Yippee!!!

Hubert Parry's 3 String Quartets will be available soon on
the Willowhayne label, recorded by the Archaeus Quartet.
Interesting!

Indeed it is, I have it, and it is great music, very Verdian but with a much fuller orchestration, what a pity the libretto was so bad that Liszt abandoned the opera after the first act. The score will be published by EMB withiun the next 6 months apparently.

Re Liszt's Sardanapalo, PiPhi readers may find this article interesting:

Editing unfinished music by a great composer is controversial – but sometimes it needs to be done

Thanks for the link 4c. For what it's worth, I think that anyone who produces
a performable version of a fragment by one of the master composers is to be
greatly admired.
