Thank you for the attempt, but, let's be honest, this score is not practicable... should I work on the other pieces for the better resolution? And, yes, I noticed this as a unique set, especially by the lovely Mr. Baines. The F#m Etude has been recorded, but not the others, I believe.ilu wrote:William Baines: “A Last Sheaf”.I could download this score, the resolution is not so good. I did my best.

I agree with you; but I decided to upload it as a gesture of my effort and contribution.musiclife217 wrote:Thank you for the attempt, but, let's be honest, this score is not practicable... should I work on the other pieces for the better resolution? Re: Music from the British Isles
Ask almost anyone in Britain with a bit of knowledge about classical music
to name a British composer starting with Hol- and they'll say Holst.
Unfortunately, very few folk have even heard of Holbrooke.
Looking at the latter's list of works, almost every opus number corresponds
to two or more different compositions. One piano piece I've tried to track
down is his 'Wasps', which Holbrooke himself recorded. Is it contained within
one of his sets of pieces? If so, which set? If anyone can help narrow down the
search, and perhaps even locate the score, it would be much appreciated.

Good quality copies of Baines scores held at the BL can be ordered using their online thingy.musiclife217 wrote:Thank you for the attempt, but, let's be honest, this score is not practicable... should I work on the other pieces for the better resolution? Years ago I wanted a copy of Baines Poeme for Piano and Orchestra, but they declined, as for manuscripts I needed the permission of the Copyright holder. When I asked who the Copyright holder was, they eventually wrote back to me and said they were and they eventually sent me a copy of the Poeme which I believe was based on the Etude mentioned above.

Is there any chance of scanning and sharing your Baines scores please?fleubis wrote:Thank you ilu for the Baines. This is a rare piece indeed as I thought I had all his scores but am greatly pleased to have this one in spite of the resolution challenges. Baines music is always interesting and oft time challenging. A most unusual find.
Here's something completely different.

Dear Timtin:
Thank you for Oswald’s “Valse Florentine”.
I only have the Baines the one that is uploaded “A Last Sheaf”, the others scores that I have are available at IMSLP.

Thank you Ilu for your reply.
Here's another short piece, but where is Tchaikovsky?

Finding out any information about Harold Wallis is not easy!
All I know is that he was active soon after WW1 and wrote 'Evening Sketches'
and 'Lyric Fancies', both for piano, as well as this work:-
