While I played through this piece enjoying the very useful fingering you have provided, Alfred, I confess to not being enamored with this piece as much as you seem to be. Just too much atonality for my neo-romantic ears, I guess. Without the excellent work on fingering it, I would certainly never have taken the time to play through it. I found some interesting technical developmental material that are intellectually interesting, even if not my cup of tea musically.
And speaking of Prokofiev, I think I'll have to go with Horowitz on the 7th.....Gould uses too much pedal in the Preciptato for my taste. Playing through this again today I am continually amazed at Prokofiev's final elaboration of the theme--I have never seen anything this ingeniously sophisticated before or since.
