Alfred gives us this tidy little encore from the one and (NOT!) only LHEWINE ....this time Joseph. It is very well written for fast performance and quite a blast. Pretty lazy publisher not to put the first name in the score.
Thanks, Alfred for posting, and alpha for finding the fright LHEWINE.

Are you sure??alpha wrote:Yes- wrong Llewine- it's none other than Joseph Lhevinne. This piece was recorded by Tamara Cislowska in 1999 on her Russian Album CD on Artworks, an Australian label.alfor wrote:

I'm not sure, but I have this CD and the liner notes identify the composer as JL, as do all the web references. Given the level of scholarship that one sees these days from pianists and record labels, this is of course not foolproof. The links you sent indicate that Marks Levine was not a composer at all, but a manager/impresario.

Alternate scan from Scorser. There were a number of editions of this piece over the years.

We'll just enjoy a second copy of this little Lhevine morsel and think that maybe the edition listing just the last name show that the publisher didn't know the correct first name either. Anyway, it's sparkling little miniature.

There seems to have been a lot of confusion about the composer of this excellent piece. I am pretty certain that the composer of this piece is: http://bit.ly/1Hnnl4M, not Josef Lhevinne. It has the feel of a piece written by a first-study cellist studying in Leipzig in the early 20th century.Jim Faston wrote:Alternate scan from Scorser. Not having much luck downloading the Bartok files here. Hope they have not become corrupted.
